I'm Still Here!

It has been a busy October so far. I feel like someone has put my life on fast forward the last few months. I mean, wasn't it just July? It's the same story for all busy moms, too much to do and too little time.

On Friday, I decided that it was time to explore our new little area of California. I also wanted to take a look at a gymnastics place to find out about classes. We took a break from school and headed over to the town next to us. We stopped at Half Price Books to take part in their education sale. Then we played around at the park that's right there. We were having a grand time when my 4 year old decided to run around the playground wall and landed in a giant pit of mud. Here we are, 30 minutes from home, a list of errands to do and I have a muddy child. The change of clothes in the car was a pair of shorts and a tank top, which would have been fine a week ago. But this day was the first day of cool breezes. Well, I am no amateur at this parenting thing! We headed to the nearest Target where we proudly walked in as a family of 3 clean people and 1 person who looked like she'd had a run around with Wilbur the pig. After washing her up in bathroom, which earned my some stares, we headed to the clothing and shoe department for a new outfit. Twenty minutes later, she was clean and in new clothes and we were headed to the gymnastics place.

I kept thinking if my friends could see me now! I constantly hear comments about having it all together and the like. They'd never believe that I dragged my muddy footed child into Target. It was a moment like this that I am somewhat thankful for not knowing a soul here. Because we all know that times like this are when you run into every single person you've ever known.

The moral of the story: having it "all together" is over-rated!
