Poster Centers

Posters are a relatively inexpensive way to decorate your work area. But did you know they can also be a fun and inexpensive center? Posters are a great way to teach children because they can be a great for visual and tactile learners.

I have two ideas to share with you about how to use posters for more than just wallpaper.

Idea #1

You'll need:
2 identical posters 

scissors

Sticky Velcro dots

laminator

What to do:

Laminate one poster as is
Cut the other poster into pieces that will be matched up.
Laminate pieces.
Attach Velcro dots to poster and poster pieces.

In my example, I made a matching Alphabet center for my 3 year old. She matches the pieces to the poster.

Idea #2

You'll need:

1 poster

What to do:

Create a list of questions or writing prompts based on the poster.

For example:

 If this was your poster, you could make a list of questions about recalling facts about

the different planets. Or you could add some math questions about how distances, degrees, etc. A writing idea could be asking the students which planet they would most like to visit and why.
Check the back of you poster for worksheets. Make copies of the worksheets before you hang the poster.

Use your creativity and don't let those posters hang on your wall and miss a great learning opportunity!
